Graphic Novelist
Canadian Artist | Tayinn (pen name)
Meet Tayinn, the Canadian artist who's been doodling since he was old enough to hold a crayon (and probably drew on the walls, but let's not tell his parents). Born in Macau, China, and raised in Canada, Tayinn was a 90s kid who worshiped at the altar of Marvel, DC, Dragon Ball, and Gundam. He decided to turn his passion into a career, but his art school professors were all like, "Tayinn, your skills are fire, but your sharing skills are lacking!" So, he kept his masterpieces hidden away, like an art hoarder. Life got in the way (because, adulting), but in 2021, Tayinn declared, "Enough! I shall become a graphic novelist, or my name's not Tayinn!" Two years of intense digital art boot camp later, he's ready to unleash his inner storyteller. And that's where we come in – buckle up, folks, Tayinn's tale is about to unfold!
He attended his local college in the art field studying various art mediums from sculpture, print media, photography, and design arts. After, he did a 180, circling back to his roots of sketching and illustrating. Concept arts became an interest in terms of advancing his understanding of the digital realm of creative professionalism (2008). But it was not until 2021 that he began to realize what his ultimate goal was to tell epic stories with his illustrations.
“I was really digging deep, and asking myself the question, what can I do that is impactful and do it until the day I die? It’s in this arena of story creation. Every page I put down is what I think is entertaining and or meaningful.”
